Day 1:
So, you finally committed to buying those solid surface countertops?
You saw the ad in the Sunday paper for Corian counters on sale and
felt now is the time. According to your calculations, based on the
ad, it should cost about $2,800.
Day 6:
After showing the salesperson the color you picked for your new
counters they inform you that color is not included in the sale
and will cost an additional 15%. The salesperson looks at the drawing
of your kitchen counters and adds up the estimate, it’s costing
more than you thought.
Day 8:
Well, the subcontractor that makes the counters for the BIG BOX
schedules their scribe person to be at your house between 8 &
12, except he doesn’t arrive until 2:30 with no phone call.
After the completion of your scribe, he asks you, “What is
your sink and edge detail?” seems it’s not on the work
order.
As your frustration level is climbing higher you try to calm yourself
down by telling yourself that he is only trying to do his job. The
scribe guy leaves mumbling something about running late and having
too many appointments for the day.
Day 12:
The counter company called and they are coming out Tuesday of next
week instead of the original Friday before. Frustrated and upset
you just give up and hope it all works out, not exactly what you
had in mind for almost $3,500. This doesn’t even include the
pay you’re missing from work while you have a scribe done
and new counters installed.
Day 38:
Now the big day is here and the guys show up to discover that your
old counters are still in. They aren’t authorized to disconnect
the sink and cooktop and remove the old counters. You call and ask
to speak with the store manager at the BIG BOX who checks your order
and determines removal was not included in the price. Meanwhile,
the installers have spoken with their boss who’s directed
them to leave.
You can’t believe it! Why is it that you are the one jumping
though hoops to get this done— rescheduling appointments,
hanging around all day for a scribe to be done, finding out that
the order was placed wrong, and now you have to pay extra to have
the old counters removed. Not to mention, you will also have to
pay to reinstall the cooktop and hook up the new sink. You realize
that what started out as $2,800 is now $4,185.
Day 50:
The party to celebrate the new kitchen was a success but the focus
of the conversation was the amount of aggravation you had to go
through just to get the counters installed. You vow never to go
through that again!
Thankfully, there’s Counter Solutions of Naperville and the
new MobileFab system conveniently creates your new kitchen in one
day. Click here to see how.
